How to Start Remote Desktop Sharing
To start Remote Desktop Sharing:
1. Start NetMeeting.
2. On the Tools menu, click Remote Desktop Sharing to start the Remote Desktop Sharing Wizard, and then click Next.
3. In the Remote Desktop Sharing Wizard -- Set Password dialog box, type a password in the New Password and Confirm New Password boxes, and then click Next.
NOTE: The password will be used when you control your computer desktop remotely from another computer.
4. Click Yes, enable password-protected screen saver to enable a password-protected screen saver to be started by Windows if a Remote Desktop Sharing session is interrupted, and then click Next.
NOTE: If you enable this option, it will ensure no one else can work on your computer while you are controlling it from another computer. If you do not wish to enable this option, click No, I will do this later, and then click Next. If you choose not to enable a password-protected screen saver, skip to step 4.
5. In the Display Properties dialog box, select a screen saver, click the Password Protected check box to select it, and then click OK. If you need to specify a screen saver password or if you wish to change your existing password, click Change.
6. Click Finish.
7. On the Call menu in NetMeeting, click Exit and Activate Remote Desktop Sharing.
How to Use a Computer at Another Location Using Remote Desktop Sharing
To use a computer at another location using Remote Desktop Sharing:
1. Start NetMeeting.
2. On the Call menu, click New Call.
3. Type the computer name or Internet Protocol (IP) address of the remote computer in the To box, click the Require security for this call check box to select it, and then click Next. Note that you must enable the "Require security for this call" feature to use Remote Desktop Sharing.
4. Type the password for Remote Desktop Sharing in the Password box, and then click OK.
How to Change the Remote Desktop Sharing Password
NOTE: This does not apply to Windows 2000.
To change the Remote Desktop Sharing password:
1. Start NetMeeting.
2. On the Tools menu, click Remote Desktop Sharing.
3. In the Remote Desktop Sharing Settings dialog box, click Change Password.
4. Type your old password in the Old Password box, type a new password in the New Password and Confirm New Password boxes.
NOTE: Your password must be at least seven characters long.
5. Click OK.
